The latest teenage sensation to graduate from Southampton's esteemed academy, Luke Shaw, has reiterated his affection for Chelsea, as the Stamford Bridge club are linked with a summer swoop for the defender.

It was reported last month that Chelsea have twice attempted, and failed, to sign Shaw - with the latest bid of £10 million rebuffed in the January transfer window - but the Blues remain favourites to capture the signature of the 17-year-old in the summer.

The young left-back has reportedly been identified as a long-term successor to Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge, with the England international recently signing just a one-year extension to his current Chelsea contract.

Shaw, for his part, has been keen to express his desire to stay with Southampton to continue his education, although the defensive star has further fuelled speculation about his future by confirming his affiliation towards Chelsea in a Twitter Q&A.

When asked if he had a favourite club other than Southampton, Shaw simply responded with the answer 'Chelsea', while he also said the most valued shirt he has received from an opposition player this season is that of the man he could replace at the Blues.

The former England under-17 international has never attempted to hide his support for Chelsea, and his recent comments have sparked yet more suggestions that Shaw has his heart set on a future transfer to west London.
