Ahead of the second round of World Cup Qualifiers this week, Give Me Football looks at five countries who could miss out on the tournament in Brazil.

5. Ghana.

The Black Stars sit second in their qualifying group a point behind 2012 African Cup of Nations winners Zambia.  Ghana, the quarter-finalists from the 2010 World Cup, are the second highest ranked team in Africa (20th) and were fully expected to qualify for the tournament. Led by Michael Essien they still have to face Zambia at home, knowing only a win will be enough for them to qualify from their group.

4. Greece

After a disappointing 3-1 defeat in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday, the Greeks lie three points behind the unbeaten Bosnians. Greece, ranked 12th in the FIFA World rankings, have their work cut out if they are to qualify.

3. Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal could well miss out on the World Cup after a stuttering start to their qualifying campaign. Ranked seven in the world, Portugal have won only two of their five games and sit four points behind Russia whilst playing a game more. Play-offs may be the best that they can hope for, although Israel are currently level on points with them and will challenge them for second.

2. England

England face a crunch match against table-toppers Montenegro on Tuesday knowing that a defeat could leave their qualification hopes in tatters. Despite a 8-0 win on Friday, the Three Lions are two points behind Montenegro. Ukraine and Poland are also hot on the heals of England who will need a solid result on Tuesday if they are to top the group.

After a surprise 1-1 draw at home to Finland, Spain are two points behind France and travel to Paris on Tuesday in what will surely be a group-deciding match. Oliver Giroud's late goal in Madrid back in October could be crucial and with Georgia, Belarus and Finland making up the rest of the group, only a win may be enough if Spain want to qualify automatically.
