Manchester United are reported to be prepared to entertain offers for club captain Nemanja Vidic during the summer transfer window, while Italian giants AC Milan have placed the defender at the top of their list of targets.

According to, a series of serious injuries have led to doubts about the future of Vidic as a Manchester United player, and the 31-year-old could see his seven-year association with the club come to an end this summer.

AC Milan are the current frontrunners to prise Vidic away from Old Trafford, and Sir Alex Ferguson would reportedly be willing to listen to a bid of £10 million or above from the Rossoneri.

Vidic has started only 13 Premier League games for Manchester United this term, and the emergence of the likes of Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have challenged their skipper's previously undoubted position in the heart of the defence.

It is claimed that the representatives of the Manchester United centre-back have been pushing for a transfer to Italy for some time, and it could be that Vidic is granted the chance to prove himself in Serie A come the end of the season.

Milan have outlined the acquisition of a proven centre-back as a transfer window priority, and Vidic would appear to been identified as the ideal candidate to slot in alongside Philippe Mexes at the San Siro.

Cagliari defender Davide Astori and Italy international Angelo Ogbonna are also reported targets for Milan, should they fail to land Vidic.
