Fiorentina striker Luca Toni has warned teammate Stevan Jovetic to ignore transfer interest from Arsenal.
The Montenegro international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, and has even admitted he’s tempted by the Gunners’ proposal.
However, Toni insists a move to the Emirates Stadium would not be a good one, and that Jovetic should wait for a ‘real top club’ rather than switch to north London.
“I tell him to think carefully before leaving Florence, as there is an important project here,” Toni told ANSA news agency, according to Football Italia.
“If he has to leave, then make it for a real top club. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United fit that bill, but Arsenal are not better than Fiorentina."
Jovetic began his professional career with Partizan Belgrade in 2006, spending two-years with the club before moving to Serie ‘A’ - and more specifically Florence.
The 23-year-old has been a regular at the Stadio Artemio Franchi ever since, although he missed the entire 2010-11 season after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage before the start of the campaign.
Expected to feature in a World Cup qualifier against England tonight (Tuesday), plenty of eyes will be on the 24-cap forward.
And, his performance should give Arsenal fans a better idea of why Arsene Wenger is being linked with the player, who would bolster the attack in north London considerably.
Olivier Giroud is the only central striker currently available to the Gunners, although Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott can also play through the middle when required.
