Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has compared Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to a bottle of wine.

A bottle of '61 Petrus in fact. Produced in Bordeaux, a Petrus can sell for tens of thousands of pounds but like Ronaldo it is one of the best around.

According to the Daily Mail, Ferguson compared him to the bottle of red when asked what wine Ronaldo would be.

Ferguson has always been a lover of wine and is renowned for inviting opposition managers into his office after a game for a glass or two.

After leaving Manchester United in 2009, Ronaldo has been irresistible for Madrid and was the main difference between them and Barca last season which resulted in the Galacticos winning the Spanish league title.

And with Madrid on course to claim the Champions League title, it could be a perfect swan-song for Ronaldo if he were to leave in the summer.

What players would you compare to wine and to what bottle?
