Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby insists that the Gunners will not take Reading lightly when the two teams meet this weekend.
And the Frenchman has warned his team-mates not to underestimate the relegation threatened side.
The Royals travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as new manager Nigel Adkins takes charge of his first match, as he tries to keep the Royals in the Premier League.
As for Arsenal they are in a dog-fight for a top four finish with London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham and they know that they have to win all of their home games to give themselves a good chance at a top four finish come May.
The two sides have met twice already this season and the games have seen a sensational 19 goals scored with Arsenal running out 7-5 winners in the Capital One Cup and 5-2 winners in the league.
Despite Reading being in the relegation zone and the game being at Emirates, Diaby insists that relegation-threatened sides provide a threat which the side will have to be ready for.
He told Arsenal player: “It is very difficult [against teams near the bottom of the table].
“They are fighting against relegation, and we are fighting to be in the top four.
“We may be favourites, but we know it’s not going to be an easy game. But if we can play our game, we know we can score goals.”
Diaby also touched upon the Capital One Cup game that saw Arsenal come from 4-0 down to win 7-5 and the midfielder believes the side will have to show similar characteristics to be able to see off Reading at the weekend.
He said: “It was crazy. The way we came back and responded after half-time was unbelievable.
“At 4-0 down, you know it’ll be really hard but we showed really good character and that is what we need to carry all the time, especially now.”
