Chelsea are ready to muscle in on West Ham United’s £12million move for Ivory Coast star Wilfried Bony.

According to The Sun, the Vitesse Arnhem striker’s form has been attracting great interest from around Europe and the Premier League is a likely destination.

It claims West Ham were confident of securing a deal after positive talks with Bony’s agent, but Chelsea could be about to scupper their London rivals and lure him to Stamford Bridge.

Fernando Torres’ struggle to find form has been continuous since he made the £50million switch to the Blues from Liverpool and Roman Abramovich’s scouts see Bony as a perfect replacement.

According to the report, Chelsea made their interest in the 24-year-old known to his agent, Francis Kacou, just a few hours after the meeting with West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan.

Bony scored for Ivory Coast at the weekend and has been likened to his compatriot, Chelsea legend and Champions League hero, Didier Drogba, owing to his physical style.

The report claims the former Sparta Prague star is desperate for a Premier League switch.

Chelsea are now reportedly in the driving seat to secure the signing of Bony and will agree a four-year deal worth £80,000-a-week.
