Roma star Francesco Totti has revealed that he believes only Lionel Messi is better than himself.

The 36-year-old is a Roma legend and has scored 226 league goals in over 500 appearances for the Rome based club.

The Italian sees himself as one of the best to ever play the game insisting that only Barcelona superstar Messi is superior.

The veteran striker believes that the Argentine is on a completely different level, but is stern in his view that no one then compares to himself.

Totti has recently been linked with a return to the national side after performing superbly this season, but has only netted nine in 58 games for the Azzurri.

The forward insists that he is a cut above the rest in the world and no one can say that the Italian has ever lacked in self-confidence.

"There is only one player who is doing things that I could never do and that is Messi," he was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I do not think there is an Italian footballer who I would place above myself in the list, though. The numbers speak for themselves."

Totti also believe that former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has the potential to become a phenomenon in the game, but insists that his attitude will decide how big he actually gets.

"I would say that he can become a phenomenon, but it all depends on his attitude and his behaviour. It's about the things you do outside the pitch, too," he told the Italian paper.
