Manchester United winger Nani wants to leave the Premier League and flee to La Liga in hope of reigniting his stuttering career, according to The Metro.
The 26-year-old has struggled to tie down a starting place for the Red Devils this year, and it seems both the club and the player have grown frustrated and are considering their options.
Nani and his agent been in contract talks with the club throughout the season, and with little progress noted to date, Ferguson could be looking to offload the player before his contract expires next summer.
Although the United boss had previously told reporters that he would: "definitely prefer to keep him" and if he did, he could be in a position where he would have too many wingers - especially with Wilfried Zaha's imminent arrival and Danny Welbeck playing the majority of his games on the wing.
If the Manchester club did sell him they would be hoping to recoup a big chunk of the estimated £17 million they paid for him back in 2007 when they signed him from Sporting Lisbon. However with his contract running down, they may be forced in to accepting a fee which falls short of their valuation.
Nani has failed to live up to his potential for the Red Devils, and although he has shown signs of sheer brilliance over the years for the club, his inconsistent performances have seen him used as a bit-part player this season.
Should the Portugal international be looking for a move, many of Europe’s elite clubs would definitely be interested, especially with his contract nearing its final year.
The fact he would probably be available for a fairly low fee would represent value for money for many teams, especially if they can help him fulfil his true potential.
