Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany’s row with manager Roberto Mancini has alerted the Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

According to the Telegraph, officials at Camp Nou, Santiago Bernabeu and the Allianz Arena are preparing to exploit the feud developing at the Etihad Stadium.

Arguably Manchester City’s most influential player, Kompany was reported by Belgian media to be extremely unhappy with Mancini’s comments over his decision to play for Belgium against Macedonia during the international break.

Kompany was accused by his manager of putting club before country and taking a risk that could have caused trouble for his employers for the remainder of the season.

The reports in Belgium claim Kompany takes representing his country very seriously and he left previous club Hamburg for Manchester City over an argument about playing at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

According to the Telegraph report, Barcelona are the keenest out of the trio being credited with an interest and have been keen on taking the 26-year-old to Camp Nou for some time.

It claims former manager Pep Guardiola saw Kompany as the perfect addition to his squad and that interest has been maintained as the Catalans search for a new central defender this summer.

Guardiola is set to take over at Bayern Munich at the end of the season, so that could be behind the Bundesliga leaders’ interest.

Manchester City are unlikely to be willing to let their captain leave and will more than likely demand a huge sum should it come to that, as they are in a strong bargaining position.

Kompany signed a new six-year contract last summer and declared his desire to be an integral part of the “project” at the Etihad Stadium but a disappointing season may have changed his view.
