West Ham's Matt Jarvis has revealed he revels in playing on the wing with Andy Carroll to aim at in the box.

The Hammers grabbed all three points in their last outing against West Bromwich Albion and the winger has stated he is enjoying his role at the Boleyn Ground.

The 26-year-old has lauded Carroll after his brace against the Baggies and Jarvis is grateful for the desire and willingness of the big centre-forward to get on the end of the balls he puts in the box.

"The first goal's typical Andy, that's him, getting in the box, getting his head on it. The second one was a great strike. Technically, it's probably up there with the hardest things in football and he nailed it," he told West Ham TV.

The England international is also glad that his tireless work does not go to waste and that he can help West Ham push on in the league.

"You know you can always put a ball in, just stand it up, or whip it across and there's always going to be someone there that's dying to get on the end of it," Jarvis added.

"That's what I enjoy doing. Getting the ball, running at players, putting in crosses and hopefully getting a few shots in myself. I got a lot of the ball in the first half and maybe didn't get quite enough of it in the second, but overall I'm pleased with my performance."

The wide-man has also paid tribute to teammate Gary O'Neil for his eye-catching strike at the weekend which helped secure the victory.

"Gary O'Neil has been fantastic the last few weeks," the winger said.

"He puts in such a shift and doesn't get the praise he deserves."

The Hammers face a stern test in their next game coming up against Carroll's parent club Liverpool, who are hoping to continue their push to finish in a European spot.
