Boca Juniors playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme believes that former teammate Andres Iniesta is unrivaled in his position.

The Argentine has hailed Iniesta as one of the world’s best, whilst also heaping praise on Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Eric Abidal.

The 34-year-old midfielder, who played alongside the Spain star in his time at the Catalan club, feels that his old colleague can produce magic when he takes to the football pitch.

"Iniesta does things that nobody else does. He is just incredible," he told Radio Marca.

Riquelme, who had an unsuccessful spell at the Camp Nou between 2002 and 2005, also spoke about the quality and strength in-depth that Barca possess, and highlighted the importance of Messi and Abidal to the side.

"Barcelona are a great side with outstanding footballers in their ranks. In my opinion, when Abidal was playing, he was the best left-back in the world. Barca play as they train and they are amazing," he went on to say.

"Whenever Leo Messi doesn’t touch the ball for Argentina for 10 minutes we think that he’s playing badly. We want him to constantly have the ball at his feet. Messi is unique and always plays well.

"I like watching Bayern Munich, too. They’re another great side, like Barcelona. I love how they play."

Riquelme, who returned to Boca in February having walked out on the club seven months prior, may even get to see the two sides he admires compete against each other in the Champions League as both look to progress to the semi-finals after favourable first leg results against Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus respectively.
