Newcastle and a number of Premier League clubs have been put on red alert after transfer target Ludovic Sane insisted the interest from English clubs can only be good news.

A number of suitors have been reportedly interested in the Senegal international, who has impressed for French side Bordeaux this season.

Southampton, West Ham, Wigan, Everton and the Magpies have all reportedly been tracking the defender and may be tempted to lure the Girondins de Bordeaux man to the Premier League.

However, the French outfit are understandably reluctant to part company with the player after showcasing his talents this season in Ligue 1.

The club based in the south-west of France are languishing in mid table and if a big enough offer comes in for the centre-back then they may be tempted to let the player leave in the summer.

Sane does, however, acknowledge what the club has done for him in giving him the opportunity to prove his ability, but has conceding there is nothing in concrete as of yet.

"I am very proud of my season but I have read that there is interest from English clubs in me and that can only be good news," he told

"Every physical and powerful player wants to play in the Premier League and I am no different.

"But there is nothing concrete at the moment and my club Bordeaux have been great to me and have given me an opportunity."
