Manchester United & Liverpool target 'knows nothing' about summer move

Manchester United and Liverpool target Dede has played down talk of a move away from Vasco da Gama this summer, reports Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old defender has been heavily linked with a move to Europe, although reports over the weekend suggested the Brazilian international was also a target for reigning Club World Cup champions Corinthians.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been credited with an interest in bringing the South American stopper to Old Trafford at the end of the season, as he seeks to reinforce his central defensive ranks ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

However, Manchester United could face stiff competition for Dede's signature with Liverpool and Portuguese giants Benfica both also monitoring the player's situation.

Brendan Rodgers is on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Anfield legend Jamie Carragher, who is set to retire next month.

And, with doubts over the long-term futures of Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, a centre-back will be a transfer priority for the Merseyside club this summer.

Despite speculation linking Dede with a move to the Premier League, the Manchester United and Liverpool target insists he is unaware of any proposed negotiations, before intimating a preference to remain in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

"I don't know anything," he told Globo Esporte. "Corinthians are a great club and I won't say I wouldn't like to play there.

"I'll arrive in Rio de Janeiro to know what's going on. But I'll keep focusing on my job."
