Juventus v Bayern Munich: Match preview

Bayern Munich travel to Turin on Wednesday night leading 2-0 on aggregate against a Juventus side aiming to produce what would be a classic Champions League turn-around.

Juventus will be missing defender Stephan Lichtsteiner and midfielder Arturo Vidal for the clash, whilst the rested Mario Mandzukic is set to return for the visitors.

Bayern clinched the Bundesliga title at the weekend with a record six matches to play, but Jupp Heynckes's side have unfinished business in Europe after last season's unforgettable defeat at home to Chelsea in the final.

Bayern are looking to reach their third semi-final in four years, but have lost two finals in the last three years.

Arjen Robben knows this heartache better than most and the Dutchman believes clinching the title at the weekend has allowed them to focus fully on their Champions League match.

The lightning-quick winger is not getting carried away regardless of his side's determination to rectify last season's failures.

"We have lost two Champions League finals in the last few years and we want to make amends. We are on course to reach another but we are still not there yet", he told reporters.

Juventus coach Antonio Conte told reporters that the first leg did not reflect the true quality of both sides on show at the Allianz Arena.

"The gap between us and Bayern is not what our performance from the first leg might suggest," he said.

Bayern missed a host of chances to finish off the tie in Munich and if The Old Lady can nick a goal, then the tie is well and truly in the balance. Bayern coach Heynckes has already said Juventus are capable of making the seemingly impossible a reality.

"They're nice words. But we will have to wait until the post-match press conference tomorrow to see if Heynckes says, 'I told you so'," Conte concluded.
