With the 2012/13 campaign now drawing to a close, the time has come to assess the impact of players that have caught the eye in their debut season in the Premier League.

As ever, there have been plenty of movers and shakers over the past 12 months, from club-record signings to Bosman free transfers, all having varying levels of success with their new employers.

Whether a player never before seen, or heard of on English shores, or an already established household name, now plying his trade in rival colours, it's always difficult to define the 'best' acquisition of the season.

Some people determine the greatest value for money, like Swansea's £2million capture of Spanish attacking midfielder Michu, an investment unrivalled in the Premier League this year.

Others focus solely on statistics, with goals - like Robin van Persie's 19 in the Premier League for Manchester United - assists, and tackles holding more relevance, regardless of the size of the transfer fee.
