Le Havre have insisted that Tottenham Hotspur target El Hadji Ba has not turned down a new contract, reports Sky Sports.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Wigan Athletic all credited with an interest in his signature.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is also believed to be monitoring the Senegalese star's development in Ligue 2, and is weighing up a bid to bring him to White Hart Lane.

However, Tottenham might also face competition for Ba's signature from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, who are also considering an offer for the African starlet.

Ba is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in France at the moment, and has attracted attention from a number of different clubs around Europe.

Recent speculation has suggested that the widespread interest has unsettled the promising talent, but Le Havre have been quick to play down rumours Ba is set to leave Stade Oceane at the end of the season, despite his latest comments.

"I am not in a hurry to sign a new contract," he told Sky Sports. "We will wait until the end of the season and sit down together.

"Le Havre has been good to me and I have the utmost respect for the club."
