Murray is seeded second for the tournament behind Novak Djokovic and may have to face three of the rising stars of the ATP tour just to reach the quarter-finals.

The Scot, who trains at the Crandon Park venue on Key Biscayne where the tournament will be played, has a bye in the first round so his first match will either see him take on Australian Bernard Tomic or a qualifier.

Grigor Dimitrov may then be waiting for Murray in round three before a possible clash with Jerzy Janowicz, the big-serving Pole who beat Murray in the last-16 of last year's Paris Masters.

The man Murray beat in last year's Wimbledon semi-final, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, is the Scot's projected quarter-final opponent, with Tomas Berdych projected to meet Murray in the last four.

Novak Djokovic will open against Gilles Muller or Lukas Rosol on Friday and is seeded to meet fellow Serb Janko Tipsarevic in the quarters and David Ferrer in the semis.

Indian Wells runner-up Juan Martin Del Potro is also in Ferrer's quarter and will be optimistic of a good tournament after retuning to his best form in California, where he beat Murray and Djokovic before the defeat by Rafael Nadal in the final, who is not taking part in Miami.
