Neymar is an exceptional talent. At only 21 years of age, his 131 goals in 214 appearances underline what a special player he is.
There's no doubt about it: the flamboyant forward would add an extra spring to Barcelona’s attack.
In terms of revenue and merchandising, signing the Brazilian international will make sense. He is a national idol back in his home country and has been tipped to become the new Pele by leading Brazil to their sixth World Cup victory on home soil.
I think it is clear that the Barcelona board are looking forward to the boost in sales when they sign Neymar.
The Brazilian himself is believed to favour a move to the Nou Camp.
"I don't know if Barcelona are unbeatable," Neymar told reporters after Santos were demolished 4-0 by Barcelona at the 2011 Club World Cup finals, "but they are the best team in the world. Barcelona taught us how to play football.”
Neymar would cost Barcelona a fortune when perhaps their main priority this summer will be on bolstering their defence. Signing a new top class centre-back, such as Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels, would take up a large chunk of their transfer budget.
There’s no doubting Neymar’s potential to become a world-class forward but Barcelona already have Lionel Messi, David Villa, Pedro, Alexis Sanchez, Cristian Tello and Ibrahim Afellay in the same possession.
They also have talent Gerard Deulofeu who has scored 18 goals in 27 appearances for the B team this season.
Barcelona should get their priorities right this summer and sign a centre-back that Tito has requested from the board.
Then they can begin to dream about Neymar.
