It’s no surprise that Asmir Begovic is interesting both Manchester United and Arsenal, says Tony Pulis.

Both Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have been credited with an interest in the Bosnian in recent weeks.

Arsenal were reportedly readying a bid for the £15million-rated ‘keeper in the summer as the Gunners boss looks for further competition in his squad for the number one spot.

Wojciech Szczesny was first choice up until the Champions League second leg against Bayern Munich, where he was dropped for compatriot Lukasz Fabianski.

Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Ferguson looks as though he will need to recruit another goalkeeper in the summer to provide competition for David de Gea.

This is because current number two Anders Lindegaard is reportedly looking to leave in the summer after failing to take his chance for the number one spot.

The Stoke City manager hailed Begovic’s performances this season and claimed it was only natural teams with the calibre of Manchester United and Arsenal are interested.

“I think he has been exceptional this year. It’s been a great season in many respects for him and he will only get better because he’s still a young lad.

“Even in the Villa defeat last Saturday, he made some fantastic saves,” he is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.

“He has learned a lot from Thomas Sorensen who was first choice when he arrived.

“The competition has been good because it has pushed and pushed Asmir and he really enjoys that.

“So, it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if there links with top clubs.”
