Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc has signed a new two-year contract at St Mary's after a string of solid performances this season.
Boruc had struggled to make an impact between the sticks at the start of the season, but after being drafted into the team for the Boxing Day game against Arsenal, Boruc has made 15 consecutive appearances.
After joining from Serie A side Fiorentina on a free transfer, Boruc had made only a single start in goal between August and December, but now Saints boss Mouricio Pochettino regards the ex Celtic man as their number one choice.
Speaking to Southampton's official website, Boruc spoke of his delight at being a part in the Southampton dressing room: "I am very pleased and I'm proud to be a part of a big project.
“As a club, I believe we can achieve a lot over the next two years, and I'm looking forward to that."
Gaining the number one jersey has been no mean feat for Boruc, who has ousted club-captain Kelvin Davies from the team.
Boruc added: "The Premier League is probably the best place to play football and nothing has changed my mind on that since I came to Southampton.
Boruc has also been full of praise for new manager Mourcio Pochettino, who has pulled the Saints away from the drop-zone since his arrival from Espanyol.
"The new manager has changed a lot - we're playing totally different football, and I think that this football is quite nice to watch and quite effective," said Boruc on new manager Pochettino.
