Arsenal have sent scouts to watch talented Japanese playmaker Takashi Inui as they begin to compile a list of summer transfer targets.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger has sent his chief scout Steve Rowley to run the rule over the Eintracht Frankfurt star.
The report claims the Arsenal manager has been impressed by Inui’s performances in helping Frankfurt make a successful return to the Bundesliga.
The 24-year-old only joined the club in the summer from VFL Bochum and still has two years left on his deal.
Arsenal, according to the report, are planning on recruiting a centre-back, a defensive midfielder and striker in the summer.
Inui is none of these, rather he is an agile playmaker that is usually stationed out on the left – the Japan international has scored six goals and made four assists in the Bundesliga this season.
Should Inui make the move to Arsenal, he would join fellow Japan international Ryo Miyaichi at Emirates Stadium.
Miyaichi has had numerous injury problems this season, which saw a loan deal at Wigan Athletic cut short.
