Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is happy with the rate of development taking place in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's career and he believes he will be a crucial figure in the last five games of the season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain came off the bench during Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Norwich City at the weekend and he provided the assist for Olivier Giroud's goal that gave the Gunners a 2-1 lead in the 88th minute.
The speedster then came off the bench during the 0-0 draw with Everton and injected the much needed pace into the game and impressed his manager once again.
Arsenal signed Oxlade-Chamberlain as a 17-year-old from Southampton and broke through to the first squad last season as he made a handful of first team appearances and impressed in all of them, including a brace in their 7-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
An injury early on this season has halted his progression thus far, but Wenger is happy with what he is seeing from the 19-year-old and insists that he will be a key member of the team in the upcoming Premier League matches.
Wenger told Arsenal Player: “Alex is a huge talent. I believe that he has moved forward a lot this season and you see it now when he comes on he has a different stature.
“He takes responsibility when he comes on now, which was not always the case. He has made huge improvements. He's a very young boy. He has a part to play in our final run-in of course.
“I think since January he has grown up a lot. You see that now, there is more purpose in his game, the final ball is much better and his concentration is at a higher level.
“That's what you learn when you come from [being] a young talented boy to a real performer. I think this season has been very useful for him.”
