Sometimes all it takes to end a barren spell is a little bit of luck, but it’s more rewarding when it’s a bit of skill that unlocks the door.

Slovenian top flight side Aluminij were without a win for six months before beating Olimpija 2-0 this week – a victory aided in part by a stunning 35-yard free-kick right into the top corner.

Captain and left-back Denis Topolovec fired home the effort after a Roberto Carlos style run-up. 

Judging by the amount of empty seats, it seems the Aluminij fans gave up on their side some time ago - which is a shame because this free-kick was almost worth the six-month wait.
