Manchester City have stolen a march on Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign Feyenoord starlet Rodney Kongolo, reports the Sunday People.

The 15-year old midfielder is widely regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Holland at the moment, and has featured for the Dutch national youth team.

Citizens boss Roberto Mancini wants to bring the talented teenager to the Etihad Stadium at the turn of his 16th birthday, and is ready to pay £1.5million for his signature.

However, the reigning champions will face stiff competition for Kongolo's services, as Manchester United and Liverpool both weigh up bids.

Sir Alex Ferguson sent Old Trafford scouts to watch the player in action against Belgium, while Brendan Rodgers also had representatives present, as he considers an attempt to lure him to Anfield.

At 6ft 1in, Kongolo's mixture of size and skill makes him ready made for the Premier League, and Feyenoord will have numerous offers to consider this summer.
