Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed the performances of Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs, calling the 39-year-old a 'unique freak'.

Giggs scooped the 13th Premier League title of his career - and his 25th major trophy - as United beat Aston Villa 3-0 at Old Trafford on Monday evening.

And Ferguson believes the Welshman has been a key asset for his side, and even thinks he can keep playing at the highest level for at least another two seasons.

"He's a unique freak," Ferguson said in the Daily Mail. "He'll play for another two years, trust me."

This season's title triumph is United's 20th top flight success, and following the match Ferguson paid tribute to the consistency of his squad.

"I'm really happy with the squad, really delighted, they are a good bunch of professionals, of human beings," Ferguson continued.

"There is no reason why we can't go on and improve for next year."

The champions sit 16 points clear of Manchester City with just four games to play, and Ferguson's side still have a shot at breaking the all-time Premier League points record for a single season.

That mark stands at 95 points - set by Jose Mourinho's Chelsea - but United can top that figure with 96 points if they win all their remaining matches.
