Real Madrid will try to use convince Tottenham Hotspur to sell Gareth Bale by offering winger Jose Callejon as part of the deal.
The Santiago Bernabeu club have made the Spurs top scorer their number one target for the summer and hope a player-plus-cash deal will do the job, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report claims Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a huge price tag on Bale to discourage any potential suitors but Real Madrid are still keen.
The Wales international has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season and is crucial to Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League this season.
It also claims Tottenham are confident Bale is content at White Hart Lane and won’t be agitating for a move this summer.
However, all this could change if a club such as Real Madrid make a serious bid and the lure of a move to one of Europe’s most prestigious clubs is dangled in front of him.
Callejon started his career with Real Madrid before being allowed to leave their ‘B’ side and join Espanyol.
The 26-year-old impressed so much in his three years at the Barcelona club he was granted a return to los Blancos in 2011.
