Fernando Torres says he would welcome the arrival of Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao at Chelsea in the summer.

The Colombian is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal to join Chelsea, along with Jose Mourinho, and would be in direct competition with both Torres and fellow forward Demba Ba for a starting spot.

Torres has failed to regularly fire ever since joining the Blues in 2011 for a British record £50 million fee, and at one point was even touted as a possible makeweight to help bring Falcao to Chelsea.

However the Spaniard says he is staying put, and insists he would enjoy the competition if 'El Tigre' does sign on the dotted line for the Blues.

"When you play for Chelsea, you're always hoping big playerscome and the big names are always being linked with the club," he told reporters.

"You cannot stop that - especially when the summer comes. Every player is welcome at Chelsea, every top player.

"Since I came to Chelsea, only top players have come, so it would not be a surprise if we signed Falcao."

While Torres is having a better season in front of goal this term - he has 19 goals in all competitions so far - it has not put an end to the criticism of his performances.

The former Liverpool man admits Chelsea fans are yet to see his very best form, but says he feels confident about delivering the goods soon.

I have still not been at the level I want to be," he said. "Hopefully the Chelsea fans have not seen the best of me at the club. I hope there's more to come.

"In the Premier League this season, our opponents have played much deeper. It's been more difficult for a player like me, but very good for players like Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar.

"I just have to adapt. I've been changing my style a lot. Hopefully next season is going to be much better because I know the club have hopes of me and trust in me."
