Andres Iniesta puts Barcelona focus on La Liga

Tuesday night's heavy defeat for Barcelona at the hands of a quite brilliant Bayern Munich side has Spanish maestro Andres Iniesta thinking of the league title.

The Catalan midfielder has been reminiscing on his sides likely exit from the Champions League, and feels it is important his side now concentrate on securing the domestic league title as a first priority.

“The only thing to do is to pick ourselves up and get back to winning the league. Now we have to switch our focus, go to Bilbao, win and ensure that the league title is one game closer," he said.

Barcelona have come under heavy fire since the result in the week, but Iniesta seemed confused by the criticism and feels people are expecting too much of the Spanish giants.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he added: “People are being too unfair to the team - in the last five seasons we have won three Champions Leagues, reached three more semi-finals, we are on the point of taking our fourth league title…what a record!

The tricky midfielder was also keen to praise the performances of both German sides in this year's Champions League semi-finals, and insists that the best teams won on both occasions.

"Bayern and Borussia are both on top of their game, both technically and physically and that has been made clear this week,"  Iniesta concluded.

Neither Real Madrid or Barcelona look set to walk out at Wembley for the final, but with the latter leading La Liga by 13 points, it would seem a rosier outlook for Iniesta and his teammates.
