MarseilleFormer defender Eric Di Meco laughed when it was suggested back by  when they signed Azpilucueta back in 2010 would be a future Spanish international, and said he would eat a rat if that day ever came.

The 23-year-old, who signed for Chelsea last summer from the Ligue 1 club, has emerged as a regular first team starter under interim Blues boss Rafa Benitez.

The former Osasuna defender has so far made 21 league appearances for Chelsea this term, and helped the Stamford Bridge-based outfit to a 2-0 win over Swansea on Sunday which moved them up to third in the Premier League.

His performances earned him a cap for Spain against Uruguay earlier this year - and true to his word, Di Meco finally come good on his promise and chowed down on a Coypu - a French river rat - live on air.
