Chelsea join transfer chase for Ajax starlet

Chelsea are the latest club to be linked with a move for Ajax starlet Viktor Fischer.

The Daily Express claimed the Blues are amongst ‘a cluster’ of teams who are keeping a close eye on the 18-year-old, who has already won two caps for Denmark.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been credited with an interest in the past, whilst German giants Bayern Munich are also said to be keen.

However, it’s Chelsea who now have their eye on the young forward, who could join Andre Schurrle at Stamford Bridge if he left the Eredivisie for the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

The manager situation in west London could prove to be a sticking point though, with interim boss Rafa Benitez set to leave the club at the end of the season and a replacement yet to be found by owner Roman Abramovich.

Whether that would affect Fischer’s mind-set remains to be seen, but the young prodigy would join a number of high-class players under 23 if he were to sign for Chelsea, with Oscar, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses all featuring regularly this season.
