The majority of Arsenal fans breathed a sigh of relief when it was confirmed in January that Andre Santos was to spend the rest of the season on loan at Gremio.

It is unclear as to what Gremio fans’ response was to the news but the Brazilian started well in his homeland with the odd goal.

Any positivity surrounding the move may be difficult to find now among Gremio fans after Santos’ latest blunder.

In fairness, the 30-year-old was always quite accomplished in front of the opposition goal – it was just defending his own that had Arsenal fans watching through their fingers.

Gremio were taken to penalties in the semi-final of the 2nd phase Gaucho State Championship by Juventude.

The game finished 1-1 and went to penalties and was poised at 5-4 when Santos stepped up to take the decisive kick.

Decisive it was, because the calamitous defender sent one of the highest and widest penalties you are ever likely to see in the stands.

It really was atrocious and hilarious at the same time – watch the terrible effort below…
