Arsene Wenger’s reported move to Paris Saint-Germain is “complete nonsense”, according to Peter Hill-Wood.

The Arsenal chairman told the Daily Star that there was no clause in Wenger’s contract that would allow him to forgo the final year.

Reports on Tuesday claimed PSG officials were confident they could persuade the Gunners most successful ever boss to switch to Ligue 1 in the summer.

"I think this is complete nonsense – in fact, I know it is complete nonsense,” said Hill-Wood.

He was also adamant that this would not happen and that Wenger would do as he has always maintained and honour his contract at Emirates Stadium, which expires in the summer of 2014.

“He is not about to change that,” was Hill-Wood’s response.

A major factor in the reports claiming PSG would persuade Wenger to move to the French capital was the claims that Wenger’s contract had a clause that would allow him to break the deal a year early.

The Gunners’ chairman gave the suggestion short shrift and insisted Wenger was going nowhere because he was content with life at Arsenal.

“That [the clause] is news to me and I would certainly know if there was one,” he added.

“He is happy as Larry and the whole thing is complete rubbish.”
