Video: Chelsea stewards prevent Basel star from taking corners

It is not unknown for clubs to utilise the talents of their non-playing staff in order to provide an advantage to the home team and, in turn, prove a hinderance to the opposition - as was clearly shown by Eden Hazard's unedifying clash with a Swansea ballboy.

Perhaps inspired by this incident during Chelsea's Carling Cup defeat to the eventual winners, the Blues have now adopted a tactic of their own to ruffle the feathers of their opponents, the first example of which became apparent on Thursday night.

With Chelsea 3-1 up against Basel at Stamford Bridge and edging towards a place in the Europa League, the visitors earned a corner and, with it, one last throw of the dice as they attempted to get back into the tie.

Marcelo Diaz stepped up to take it, but was prevented from doing so as quickly as he would have liked as a stream of orange-clad Chelsea stewards walked across his path, seemingly blissfully unaware of the the nuisance they were causing.
