Xabi Alonso is hoping to end this season with some silverware by helping Real Madrid claim the Copa del Rey, while the Spain international has also outlined his intention to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
For Los Blancos the league may be beyond them, but Madrid still have the Spanish cup final against Atletico Madrid to play next week and the Spaniard believes it is vital they do not slip up.
"It's important to maintain good feelings, with an important match coming up next week," the former Liverpool man said on his club's website.
"We prepared for this match [against Malaga] with the same seriousness as always and with the desire to do well.
"We're mentally prepared for the cup final, it will be a tough match. It's a clear objective, one we can achieve this year and nothing else can distract us. We all have to pull in the same direction."
Alonso has created five goals this season and featured 27 times in this La Liga campaign, but the majestic midfielder hasn't scored in the league, so will be looking to strike in the last few games remaining this season.
Real Madrid in La Liga are yet to play against Espanyol at home, Real Sociedad away and finish the season with a Osasuna home fixture. Alonso will hope to have a Copa del Rey medal round his neck to finish the football semester, and claims he will still be with the club when the new season starts in August.
With speculation that the 31-year-old could follow Jose Mourinho from Real Madrid to Chelsea this summer, Alonso has moved to pour cold water on suggestions that he will be leaving Los Blancos for Stamford Bridge come the transfer window.
"Of course I'm going to be here next season," he told reporters following the comprehensive 6-2 defeat of Malaga on Wednesday night.
There have also been whispers of a return to Liverpool but Alonso played down any plans to leave his homeland with that simple quote.
