Willian Ribeiro was the talk of the terraces in Brazil this week after the Campinense star was guilty of an incredible open-goal miss in his side's recent 1-0 victory over Atletico-PB.
Breaking clear of the opposition defence from deep inside his own half, the South American - clean through on goal - rounded the outrushing goalkeeper on the edge of the box, leaving himself with the simplest of finishes into an unguarded net.
However, Ribeiro's side-footed shot appeared to hit a divot no more than eight yards out, diverting the ball off course and wide of the post.
The player looked dismayed by the extraordinary slice of misfortune - probably because he knew he'd be on the receiving end of unwanted publicity - with the shocking open goal gaffe ready-made for any future football blooper shows or DVDs.
