Frank Lampard further etched his name into the annals of Chelsea folklore on Saturday as the midfielder bagged a brace against Aston Villa to establish himself as the highest scorer in the club's illustrious history.

The 34-year-old's first of the afternoon saw him draw level with Bobby Tambling before the second, Lampard's 203rd goal in the Blue of Chelsea, made him the outright holder of the prestigious title.

Lampard's record of a double-century of goals is remarkable in itself, but the fact that he has been able to contribute them all from central midfield makes the achievement even more jaw-dropping.

The England international has found the net on at least 10 occasions in the last 10 seasons and only once since then, during the injury hit 2010-11 season, has Lampard not scored at least 15 goals.

Despite being out of the Chelsea team for large parts of this season, Lampard is just one goal away from equaling his second best tally of Premier League goals in a single campaign, having scored 16 times in 2004-05.

Lampard's best single season goals record for Chelsea was during the Double winning campaign under the stewardship of Carlo Ancelotti, when he scored 27 times - 22 of which came in the league.
