Christine Ohuruogu opened her 2013 Diamond League campaign with a 3rd place finish in the 400 metres.

The 28-year-old, a silver medalist at last summers Olympic games in London, ran a season-best time of 50.53 seconds in Doha, but couldn't contend with Amantle Montsho (49.88) of Botswana and American Allyson Felix, who finished 1st and 2nd respectively.

Having gone into the event on the back of running a fine 50.58 in Jamaica, the Beijing 2008 gold medalist looked in good shape and will be happy with her solid start at the first Diamond League event of the season, which gave her 1 point with 6 events to come.

A typically strong finish from the Newham and Essex Beagles runner took her past Francena McCorory of the US in the final 100m to salvage something from an otherwise disappointing night for Team GB.

Olympic bronze medalist Robbie Grabarz finished 4th in the high jump event having cleared a height of 2.24m.

Elsewhere, the star attraction of the night was world record holder David Rushida, who won the 800 metres race.
