Arsenal host Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium tonight knowing victory will put them in pole position for the final Champions League place.

Wojciech Szczesny is the obvious starter between the sticks despite a season in-and-out of the team, and he’ll have to be at his best against the FA Cup winners.

In defence, Kieran Gibbs is likely to get the nod ahead of Nacho Monreal, with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker set to keep Thomas Vermaelen out of the starting line-up at the Emirates Stadium. Bacary Sagna will continue at right back.

In midfielder, Jack Wilshere is pushing for a start, but manager Arsene Wenger is likely to rest the England star as he recovers from injury. Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey should get the nod in the holding roles.

Ahead of the duo, Theo Walcott is the option on the right, with Santi Cazorla and Tomas Rosicky competing the forward-think three.

Up-front, Olivier Giroud is fit to return for the Gunners, meaning Lukas Podolski could drop down to the bench.

Arsenal predicted line-up v Wigan:

Wojciech Szczesny; Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, Kieran Gibbs; Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey; Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky; Olivier Giroud.
