Former Premier League and Brazil star Juninho is convinced current Samba superstar Neymar is closing in on a Barcelona move.

This week saw former Santos vice-president Vicente Cascione claim a deal to link up Neymar with new Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola was as good as done.

While last week saw reports in Spain claiming Real Madrid were doing all they could to try and turn Neymar away from Barcelona and towards the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Neymar was reported to have turned down Real Madrid’s offer and Juninho was convinced the 21-year-old Santos forward would be choosing Camp Nou.

The former Middlesbrough and Atletico Madrid man also believes Neymar needs to make the move to Europe if he is to gain the necessary experience to become one of the world’s best.

“I believe that he is closer to Barcelona,” he told Onda Cero this week.

“Everyone sees Neymar as leaving Santos this summer and it has always been said that he is going to Barcelona. He needs an experience in Europe.”

Not only did Juninho feel Barcelona would be Neymar’s likely destination, he felt the Catalan club’s style would suit the talented forward more than any other club he could choose.

“I see him enjoying Barcelona a little more for the way they play, for their style of play. I think he would fit in better there than in other teams,” he added.
