Liverpool target Tom Ince has been offered a new contract by Blackpool in a bid to warn Brendan Rodgers away from trying to sign the youngster this summer.

The 21-year-old has been in dazzling form for the Tangerines this campaign, scoring 18 goals in 44 appearances, and is subject to interest from a host of Premier League Clubs – including Rodgers’ side.

Ince, a former Anfield youth product, was set to leave the club this summer when his contract was set to run out. However, the club activated a clause to extend his deal for a further 12 months.

And Blackpool manager, and Thomas’ father Paul Ince, hopes to tie his son and fellow wide-man Matt Phillips down to long-term contracts to ensure the pair stay at Bloomfield Road for the existing future.

Talking to Blackpool Gazette, the Blackpool boss said: “We all know the situation with Matty and Thomas.

“We have options on them but 12 months isn’t a long time, so we have offered them new deals. Twelve months isn’t long enough, and by January they will have clubs elsewhere trying to speak to them.

“Those two are high on our list to look at.”

Ince will travel to the u21 European Championships in June as part of Stuart Pearce’s England squad, meaning any resolution on his future is likely to happen when the tournament concludes.
