Chelsea and Manchester City have been alerted after Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona hit a stumbling block because of his father.

According to the Daily Express, the Brazil star’s father is threatening the completion of negotiations to take his son to Camp Nou due to his belligerent attitude.

The report claims both Chelsea and Manchester City have taken an interest in recent events and may be tempted to exploit the uncertainty

It also claims Stamford Bridge and Etihad Stadium moneymen would likely have to top £50milllion if they wanted to land Neymar – a fee neither club would find off-putting.

Barcelona are reported to have a long-term agreement in place for the 21-year-old, though Real Madrid have been credited with making an approach for him.

Neymar is currently playing in Brazil for Santos and has said many times that he wants to stay there until after the 2014 World Cup hosted in his homeland.

Such prestigious interest in Neymar is understandable due to his considerable talent, but recent claims that he had become the most marketable athlete in the world explain the large sums involved.
