Arsenal are once again being linked with a move for Manchester City midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim.

The Daily Express claims Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is ready to step-up his interest in the player this summer, with scouts potentially traveling to the U21 European Championships to make a final check on the youngster.

Ibrahim, who has been compared to both Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure, has been with the Citizens since 2010, but has only made three appearances in all competitions for the club.

Instead, his opportunities have come away from the Etihad Stadium on loan, with Scunthorpe, NEC and Stromsgodset all taking advantage.

Liverpool, Spurs, Sunderland, Fulham and West Brom are also keen on the 22-year-old Norwegian, according to the paper, but it’s Arsenal who are reportedly ready to make their move.

In recent times, it’s Manchester City who have taken players away from the Gunners, with Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy first-team regulars under Roberto Mancini before his sacking last week.

Wenger will hope to lure a player the other way, with Ibrahim fitting the Arsenal mould as a player for the future at the Emirates Stadium.
