Manchester City and Barcelona have been told to forget about signing Thiago Silva this summer, after the Paris Saint-Germain defender's agent said there is no chance he will leave France.
TalkSPORT reports how the 28-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in world football at the moment, and so continues to attract attention from a host of top European clubs.
After helping PSG claim the Ligue 1 title in his debut season at Parc des Princes, the Brazil international has only added to his growing reputation, with suggestions that Barcelona are ready to lure him to the Camp Nou ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.
Tito Vilanova will be looking to strengthen his back line when the transfer window reopens this summer, but could face competition for Silva's signature from Manchester City, who were also credited with an interest in bringing the player to the Etihad Stadium prior to the recent sacking of Roberto Mancini.
However, both clubs' respective hopes of securing the South American stopper's services have now been dealt a significant blow after Paulo Tonietto ruled out any possibility of Silva leaving Paris.
"There is no chance that Thiago will leave the club this summer," he told Cadena Ser. "In addition, PSG have no intention of selling him. He is a player considered fundamental to the club, with or without Carlo Ancelotti."
