Brazilian footballer Rodrigo Silva was carried off on a stretcher during ABC's Copa do Brasil win over Sport Recife on Wednesday after being on the receiving end of a kung-fu kick.
However his assailant, Sport Recife's Ailson, received only a yellow card from the referee for his horror-tackle.
The pair came into contact right in front of referee Jailson Macêdo Freitas, with Silva, who had already scored twice in the game, laid out on the floor and in need of medical attention after Ailson's raised boot caught him in the neck.
Amazing, Freitas failed to produce a red card after the incident, instead doling out a yellow to the 33-year-old defender.
Justice was done in the end as Ailson's side Sporting Recife were knocked out of the cup after an 84th minute strike from Rodrigo Santos, Silva's replacement, made it 3-2 to the visitors.
