Gianfranco Zola has lauded the efforts of Frank Lampard over the past 12-years at Chelsea.

The England international midfielder became the club's record goalscorer in the final weeks of the Premier League season, surpassing Bobby Tambling and taking his own personally tally to 203 for the west London outfit.

And, in the eyes of Zola, the 34-year-old ranks as one of the all-time greats, continuously delivering on the big stage for the Blues.

"It's an amazing achievement from Frank, who is a true Chelsea legend," the Italian told GiveMeFootball in an exclusive interview at Wentworth.

"He's a fantastic player, and deserves all the credit for what he has achieved. He has enjoyed a wonderful career at Stamford Bridge, and can do even more I'm sure."

Zola was speaking after his round in the pro-am at the BMW-PGA Championship on Wednesday, with the 46-year-old using the event to take his mind off the impending Championship play-off final against Crystal Palace.

The Hornets face the Eagles at Wembley on Monday, having dramatically dispatched of Leicester City in the semi-final.

"It's a nice opportunity to try and relax with a round of golf, but it's a big game and it's difficult not to think about," he added.

Zola will be eyeing a return to the Premier League and a chance to take on Chelsea once again next season, having done so in the past during a spell in charge at West Ham United.
