Moutinho to snub Tottenham with Monaco move

Tottenham's hopes of landing Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho appear to be over after reports in France suggested the Portuguese international was undergoing a medical with Monaco.

Spurs were close to snapping up the 26-year-old in what would be a club record transfer fee last summer, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute.

Tottenham were reportedly eyeing another move for Moutinho as they look to bolster their squad over the summer, however Monaco appear to be on the verge of pulling off an audacious swoop for the midfield playmaker along with his Porto team-mate James Rodriguez.

Radio RMC claim that the pair are currently undergoing ahead of a €55 million joint move.

The news of the transfer will come as a blow to Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, who worked with Moutinho during his time at Porto.

Spurs will be active in the summer transfer market as they look add to their squad in order to challenge for Champions League football next season.

A new striker appears to be at the top of their list, with Leandro Damaio and Roberto Soldado the latest names linked with a move to White Hart Lane.
