Real Madrid director of football Zinedine Zidane has revealed that Gareth Bale could play for Real Madrid and claims he is in the same bracket as Cristiano Ronaldo.
The midfield legend told reporters that Bale is "more than good enough" to join the Bernabeu side, in a clear attempt to lure the Tottenham star to Los Blancos, while Real have made no secret of their desire to sign the PFA Player of the Year winner.
Zidane admits that he's been watching Tottenham this season, with the sole intention of keeping an eye on the Welsh international: "I have been watching Tottenham for the very reason that Bale has been playing."
The winger has taken the Premier League by storm this season, scoring 21 goals in 34 appearances and winning all three major individual awards.
Meanwhile Zidane - an important member of France's most recent World Cup and European Championship winning teams - is no stranger to talent and now acts as an ambassador at Real Madrid, while also taking his coaching badges.
He continued to praise Bale highly: "Aside from Ronaldo and Messi, who are the top players, I must admit that he is the footballer who impressed me most.
"He particularly impressed me because he was consistent – he wasn't great in one or two matches, he was a great player all the time. He scored goals and was consistently scoring them – very important goals. He has been very impressive."
Asked whether Bale could join Real this summer, Zidane replied: "All big, talented players could go to Real Madrid."
