Arsenal are being linked with a £12million move for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.

The Sun claims Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is a ‘long-time’ admirer of the Slovakian international centre back, and would love to bring the 28-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal also have Champions League football to offer the player, having finished fourth in the Premier League last term.

Liverpool, meanwhile, could only muster a seventh-place finish under Brendan Rodgers, and whilst there were signs of improvement for the Reds, European football won't be on offer at Anfield next season.

The former Zenit St. Petersburg star won’t come cheap for Arsenal though, with three years left on the contract of the 2011-12 fans’ player of the year on Merseyside.

Skrtel moved to the Premier League in 2008, and has impressed ever since his arrival from Russia.

But, the paper claims he is now out-of-favour at Liverpool, and a summer move could be on the cards.
