Chelsea have been boosted in their pursuit of Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel after his agent ruled out a move to Dutch champions Ajax.
TalkSPORT reports how the 21-year-old has attracted attention from a number of top European clubs, after an impressive season in the Eredivisie.
Van Ginkel scored eight goals in 33 appearances in 2012/13, helping Vitesse to a fourth-place finish, and has now been linked with a move away from the GelreDome this summer.
The Blues have been credited with an interest in bringing the Dutchman to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens on July 1.
And, they will have been encouraged by the latest development which has seen Van Ginkel's representative quash any possibility of a move to rival suitors.
"The chance that Marco goes to Ajax has become minimal," Karel Jansen told Dutch newspaper AD. "Marco has a contract for two years in Arnhem, so then the story ends."
Chelsea are still without a manager after interim boss Rafa Benitez finished his short-term spell in charge in west London, but the club are still pressing ahead with drawing up a shortlist of summer transfer targets.
